What the Heck Florida?

 

Book Banning?

Threatening teachers?

Stressing out about pronouns? 

How are these things happening in 2023? What if your kid's favorite book was banned in their classroom? 

Book banning was how Hitler moved to control the gullible. People who didn't realize what was happening in their country until it was too late. Freedom to read what you want is a basic right. 

Now some rando person can have a book banned without putting forth one specific reason why they think the book is offensive. Some of the books banned across Florida include Shel Silverstein's A light in the Attic.  A light hearted book filled with laughs and poetry. A great book for kids. Can anyone tell me why it was banned? And which bigot suggested the ban? Check out more about the Florida book bans here and here. 

A teacher showed a Disney movie and faced disciplinary actions. Hey Bigots! It was a freakin' DISNEY MOVIE!  And yes, you have to be a bigot to object to this one. See more here. In this one county alone there are like 50 teachers thinking to resign. Florida will not be able to get enough qualified teachers. It's gonna be a slow slide for Florida's already floundering educational system. 

Hey, here's an idea; 

Do something about the shootings our kids have to prepare for instead of worrying about a character dancing in a Disney movie or a book of kid's poetry? Are the children's lives safe in school? No... Do something about that if you want to protect children.

Now Pronouns.  Who cares? Call them him, her, they, whatever. Tell me how that affects anyone's life? If Richard perfers to be called Rick or Dick, is it your business? Does it really matter?  What else do these people have to do with their time? What if we object to the terms Mr., Mrs, Miss? Oh how offensive! 

OMG! There's rainbows in Target. 

Look away, you're eyes won't get burnt watching someone who wants a rainbow buy a t-shirt. It's called Land of the Free. Go over there and find your own t-shirt and leave the choices of others alone.

With so many real problems people are facing today:

Florida Insurance is a GIANT mess. Nothing is done. 

Rents have gone up over 300%. Nothing is done.

Homeless population is exploding. Nothing is done. 

Hurricane Ian (one year ago?) victims are still struggling. Nothing is done. 

Maybe it's time to focus on this stuff. You know, help instead of hate. 

My wish for these book banning, Pronoun Nazi people is that they learn to used their powers for good instead of pushing their evil ways on others.
