Dear New Hampshire....Take My Governor, PLEASE!

Dear New Hampshire,
I heard you were quite taken with Governor Christie. I read about it here.
You like his brash manner (in New Jersey we call his name calling "lack of manners" See it here!) and outspokenness.  Not having facts, shouldn't really be categorized as outspokenness. He didn't have the facts when he spouted off about pensions and what other governors have done in New Jersey. Was he lying or just speaking without know the facts? Read about that here.

We've had Christie as Governor here in NJ for ...about 5-6 years now?

  • Unemployment is up....check out the facts.
  • Property taxes have risen under Christie at a rate almost twice as high as our previous governor. Numbers from 2013 here. Or compare your state to ours here.
  • Transparency in government was something Christie promised in his campaign. However, his office can't seem to cough up any facts when questioned. The New York Times even reported it here.  And the lawsuits are costing taxpayers-you know the ones who want the transparency-big bucks.
  • Bridgegate leaves questions  and we're waiting for the indictment to drop any minute now.
  • New Jersey was hit hard by Superstorm Sandy two years ago and people are still fighting to get back in their homes. They question the Governor about it and get ...well, not much. NorthJersey.com reported it here.
  • Then there's the great New Jersey Exodus; We be leaving this high taxed state where you get less for your buck.

In closing, dear New Hampshire, if you think our Governor is so great let him govern New Hampshire for while and then get back to me.

Respectfully yours,
A New Jersey Taxpayer

Christie Plays the Waiting Game

Hillary announced she's running for Prez. No surprise there, we all saw it coming. Who else on the Dem tree is throwing their hat in the ring?
A conspiracy theorist, a performance artist, and an ex-football coach. Hmmm, should Hillary be worried? I think the only threat to Hillary for the Dem nomination at this point would be Elizabeth Warren but she already said no. Warren has already proved her self a force to be reckoned with. Her down to earth, common sense and courageous manner of calling out the deadwood political leaders in her home state of Massachusetts, has many begging her to run. I'd give her my vote in a nanosecond.
Governors from Virginia, Maryland, and Rhode Island have also made some noise in bid for Prez, but they've been keeping such a low profile I don't even remember their names.

On the other side of the ticket is....was...Chris Christie. He was all anyone was talking about a few years ago but maybe, just maybe...that bridge has closed. With New Jersey's unemployment rate one of the worst in the nations, taxes up all over the state, and his mini war on Planned Parenthood (women), he's done nothing to prove he's worth of that Oval Office. And then there's Bridgegate, accepting gifts from Jerry Jones and ...who sent him to London? That trip was a bust. Not very presidential to snap at British reporters.  Now he's a global bully.

The waiting game is on... news sites all over the web are holding their breath and waiting for the indictments to drop. Who's making a deal and who will go down because of it?

  • Wildstein? Yeah, he's been looking for a deal since day one. And he looks like a man who'd keep a little insurance on the side.
  • Kelly? She's a mom. If a deal is offered, she should make the deal that would be best for her kids. I'm sure this is hard enough on them.
  • Samson? Not sure anything can save him and the fact that his law firm is removing his name...hmmmm? What do you think?

  • Governor Christie? Could he really not have know what was going on? A traffic jam on the biggest commuter bridge in New Jersey and he was clueless? He never once wondered what kind of traffic study would shut down rush hour? Could he be that dumb? And he said he never met Wildstein ...suddenly all these photos of him and Wildstein surface...how's your memory Mr. Christie?

Should be an interesting week. . .  Who else is getting indicted? Any guesses?

Not Voting for Governor Christie Reason # 2 Mismanagement of Sandy Relief

Governor Christie's defense of his wife's mismanagement of the Hurricane Sandy Relief fund is confusing and hostile. She's done NOTHING with the funds for five months but in our Governor's eyes, that's just fine.

When questioned about the lack of action of his wife’s mismanagement of donations meant to help homeowners devastated by Sandy, Christie responds with excuses and anger. When John Boehner was late to approve the funds for Sandy recovery Christie was quick to put the blame on the speaker’s shoulders, yet his wife gets special dispensation for not releasing funds donated to Sandy relief. Congress’ lack of action was “disgraceful”, but his wife’s lack of action is “methodical.”

Only after an Asbury Park Press investigation was there any action in releasing funds. A full five months after the storm hit. Storm ravaged homeowners still get nothing while the money goes to non-profit groups to support Sandy relief.  For a woman who spent her career in the financial sector, you’d think Mrs. Christie would be more adept at managing money.

Now Mrs. Christie gives a $600,000 grant to an out-of-state organization, Operation Hope Inc. a California based firm, to open financial counseling centers in New Jersey for Sandy victims. Really? They're not giving the funds to the people who lost everything they own, families who are STILL living in hotels and have no end in sight for this nightmare. Yet when questioned, Christie defends this gross mismanagement. Is our Gov playing favorites here? He bashed Boehner but defends another who withholds Sandy relief, namely, his own wife.

And if Mrs. Christie really thought this was a good idea was there no New Jersey based company that could do this job? Did she have to send the Sandy Relief funds out to California. Why put the money into the California economy instead of New Jersey's?

Wouldn't this money be better used to rebuild and raise the homes destroyed by Sandy?  How about supplying appliances, furnaces, water heaters and roofs for those who lost everything? How many appliances would $600,000 buy? New Jerseyans don’t need counseling, they need their homes back.

These kind of dog and pony shows are just another example of how out of touch the Christies are with real life in New Jersey. Another reason I won't vote this guy back into office. We need help, not mismanagement, high unemployment, and we certainly don't need funds raised to help New Jersey homeowners sent to California.

Why I'm NOT Voting for Governor Christie

Reason # 1;

I'm not voting for Governor Christie because numbers don't lie. He can bluster and blather all he wants but the unemployment numbers are there in black and white.

These number have risen steadily since he took office. Embarrassingly enough, this puts New Jersey at 7th worst in the entire nation. Yes, New Jersey, the state that made their mark in the industrial revolution and prospered ever since...is headed for last place. Who knows, if we give him 4 more years, we just might make it. We've been watching this decent into middle class poverty since he got the job, why would anything change? And if he gets "Right to Work" laws in place in New Jersey, it will only get worse. Every state that implemented "Right to Work" has seen a steady DECLINE in worker wages. With unemployment already at an all time high, "Right to Work" laws will send us skidding into the gutter.

In fact, his get tough, cut all state aid policies have increased unemployment. Tax cuts are still in place for the rich and his buddies are lining their pockets, but police, firefighters, and teachers are still on the unemployment line. Christie forgets he's dealing with more than numbers on a ledger. All budget cuts affect real working class people. People Christie doesn't really know anything about.

Most people think his tough talk is cool. He's a Jersey tough guy and will defend the state.

Ha!

He's defending big business and letting the middle class slide into poverty. Four more years? No friggin' way!

Stay tuned for reason # 2 tomorrow.....

Mr. Christie...do the Math...

Governor Christie says he's not going to raise taxes...
So that means he's going to take all the State Aid away from every town in NJ and force THEM to raise taxes.
Then he can say he didn't do it, right?
Hey, Mr. Christie? Ever hear of the snowball effect? The fact that sh*t rolls down hill?
Don't even get me started on what this does to our over-taxed unemployment system. How many people went on unemployment because State Aid was cut?
Anyone got that number???

(Recent unemployment numbers aside...we can't count the one shot Census takers. Their jobs will be over in a heartbeat)

Your tax dollars at a tweet...

For a man who is going on and on about cutting spending our new Governor, Chris Christie, has decided to throw $60,000 a year away on having someone maintain his Face Book and Twitter accounts.
Does this guy really need a social networking site? After all the state has it's own website already and he could definitely put an update page there if he really felt the overwhelming need to reach out. Plus he has a whole office that handles his communications.
Remember every time the $60,000-twitter-twit is logging on to put up his one-liners or play with Governor's Face Book it's using more bandwith...which comes from the tax payer's pockets. OUch! Are the Tweets and Face Book updates really necessary? Are these things for anything but his own personal gain? And to waste $60,000+ of our tax dollars on promoting himself is outrageous!
Come on Christie...if you really want to tweet do so at your own expense and on your own time just like the rest of us.
Every one is cutting back, laying off and tightening their belts. Christie talks about cutting waste but I guess that doesn't mean his own.
Sheesh!
If this annoys you write to the Governor and tell him it was a real bozo move and you DON'T want your tax dollars wasted this way. Or better yet, flood his Twitter account and Face Book.
